Stamford Hospital Pediatric & Behavioral Health Renovation

Project Background

C&H Electric played a key role in the phased renovation and expansion of Stamford Hospital’s Pediatrics and Psychiatry departments, supporting the transformation of existing healthcare spaces into modern, patient-focused environments. Over the 10-month project on the hospital’s ground floor, the scope included the demolition of outdated areas, renovation of existing facilities, and construction of additional treatment, support, and staff spaces to improve operational efficiency and patient care. C&H Electric performed electrical demolition and modifications to existing systems, then installed new electrical distribution, lighting, lighting controls, receptacles, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems throughout the patient care, staff, and support areas. Completed within an active hospital setting, the work required careful coordination and phased execution to minimize disruption to ongoing clinical operations while delivering upgraded infrastructure and enhanced functionality for patients, families, and healthcare providers.

The Challenges

One of the primary challenges of the project was meeting the stringent anti-ligature requirements within the Psychiatry department while completing the work in an occupied hospital environment. Specialized fixtures, devices, and equipment had to be carefully selected and installed to eliminate potential ligature points and comply with behavioral health safety standards.
