C&H Electric played a key role in transforming The Stamford Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a phased renovation. The project included creating temporary swing space, demolishing the existing unit, and rebuilding the new NICU in place. This renovation took place on half of the 2nd floor of the TSH Whittingham Pavilion, ensuring minimal disruption in an occupied healthcare environment. 

The Challenge 

The project posed unique challenges: 

  • Operating in an active hospital with patients on floors above and below. 
  • Ensuring patient safety and maintaining critical hospital systems during construction. 
  • Managing lighting and technology upgrades in a sensitive healthcare setting.

  • Circadian Rhythm Lighting: Installed dynamic lighting systems to support patient recovery and enhance the hospital environment. 
  • Infrastructure Upgrades: Delivered power and support for 8 patient rooms equipped with advanced crib headwalls. 
  • Rauland Nurse Call Systems: Integrated state-of-the-art nurse communication systems to streamline hospital operations. 
  • Specialized Lighting: Installed self-contained, gel-filled ribbon lights around the core soffit area for an award-winning illumination finish. 

This project marked the kick-off of a full maternal health upgrade, including future renovations to the maternity and labor & delivery spaces at Stamford Hospital.
